How exactly is the e-prescription protected?

Recognized international security specifications are used in the technology. This prevents an unauthorized person from accessing the medical data. Even the server operator of the e-prescription cannot view it. Transport encryption ensures that data is transported exclusively via encrypted channels and that the parties involved first identify themselves to the protected technical infrastructure with their respective access authorization (smart card).

The data, in turn, is stored in encrypted form on servers of this infrastructure - the telematics infrastructure. The servers are located in a trustworthy data center and can only be operated using special security keys. The server operator of the e-prescription has no access to these keys.

While individual prescriptions are being processed, the data is specially protected: In order to exclude unauthorized access to them, e-prescription data processing is automated and isolated.
